This is one thing I always get a kick out of. Republicans are people just like Democrats are, yet both parties like to villianize the other. "If we pack the Supreme Court with Republicans, our rights will be removed."
"If we pack the Supreme Court with Democrats, our rights will be so bastardized that only the most liberal of Democrats will see any justice."
We need both Democrats and Republicans (and hell, some 3rd parties would be AWESOME) in the Supreme Court, but don't think it'll be the end of days just because one party holds the majority :)

There are some people where I work who are republicans.
They are nice people, but misguided.
I don't talk about religion or politics at work, because someone is bound to be offended. And I because I want to keep my job.
The selection of the next Supreme Court justices is important if you:
support a woman's reproductive rights.
Don't want to legalize descrimination for a group of people (gays).
If you support the right of free speech.
And it's important if you oppose these points.
This is an issue the Democrats should fight as hard as possible for.
