Old Reliable Jon Stewart! :D
"Support for the Iraq war is at an all-time low, and some republicans blame the media and its '24/7 news coverage of car bombs,' which 'tends to leave a certain impression.' You know, that's so true. You never hear about the cars that DON'T blow up."

Well, it's true. You don't hear about anything except the bad news. It doesn't matter that the attacks aren't done by the majority of the people, it doesn't matter that the insurgents are hated by the Americans and Iraqis alike. It doesn't matter that they're happy that we're giving them a police force or that they have certain freedoms now, like to vote (one man cried as he hugged a Marine buddy of mine, saying that his brother was killed for asking to vote under Saddam's regime, and now it was a happy day that he was granted that freedom) or to choose their policies (they are taking to democracy really quickly), or that women finally are getting rights (30% of the equivalent to a decision-making cabinet is required to be made up of women, and more women are protesting to get former laws changed). No, you don't hear about that.
Don't you think that it would change the opinion of the people if we got the full story instead of just the bad things? If I punch you 1 out of 100 times I see you, but the rest of the time I hug you, buy you dinner, and give you $1,000, you wouldn't say that I was mean to you all the time. But if all you ever told others was that I hit you, then people would think I'm an awful person and that you and I have no business talking to each other because all I do is hit you. Nevermind that 99 times out of 100 I'm nice as pie and give you food and money...no one would know because you don't tell them. But if you told them, it would certainly change their opinion about me, wouldn't it?

Iraqis & US soldiers have died & been wounded because of the US invasion.
If there hadn't been an invasion, those people would still be alive & unhurt.
My opinion of the invasion won't change whether I hear "good news" from Iraq or not.
The fact remains that the US should never have invaded Iraq in the first place.
On a related note, the reason the media shows "bad news" from Iraq is because "bad news" sells newspapers. "Good news" does not. There's an old adage in the newspaper business, "if it bleeds, it leads", which means the worst news will be on the front page of most newspapers.
